The Toronto Society of Architects is launching a program of building tours by architects, for architects, exclusive to TSA members. The first tour in the series – the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts by Diamond + Schmitt Architects – will be lead by Gary McCluskie, the project architect and a principal at the firm.

The tour will cover such aspects as:

  • the glazing assembly for the lobby (rare in Canada);
  • the glass feature stair details and the evolution of the design & engineering;
  • the lobbies and sponsor lounges;
  • the major back of house spaces such as dance studios and dressing rooms;
  • the auditorium construction techniques, concrete formwork, acoustic shaping; and
  • the procurement process for the project.

AFTER THE TOUR, join Gary McCluskie and other TSA executive members for dinner and/or drinks. Location to be determined. Drinks and Meal not included in tour ticket price.

All tickets must be purchased in advance online. No tickets will be sold at the door. TSA members are encouraged to reserve a spot early, as the tour is limited to a maximum of 20 participants.

Hosted By

Toronto Society of Architects

Established in 1887, the Toronto Society of Architects (TSA) is a non-profit volunteer-based organization comprised of architects, professionals from sister organizations, and members of the community that are interested in architecture and urban issues. The TSA is the local Chapter of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA), which is the licensing and regulatory body that governs the practice of architecture in Ontario.

The TSA plays an advocacy role in the City, ensuring that architecture and design are key considerations in public discussions and in processes that have an impact on our urban environment.

The TSA organizes and sponsors a wide variety of initiatives including exhibitions, tours,  publications, competitions, forums, film series and celebrations that engage the architectural profession, its sister disciplines, and the public. An elected Executive, comprised of volunteers, undertakes and directs these initiatives throughout the year. We strive to promote and advance the role of architecture and design in Toronto’s dynamic community.

Membership in the TSA is open to all with an interest in Toronto architecture and urban issues.  Please consider joining!
